Here's a quick look at the ABA TEAM DIVISION standing after the ABA Super Nationals in Desoto, TX. Some really good battles are starting to take shape and things are really heating up. With 9 events in the next 10 weeks we should see some major play for top postions by the end of summer. Good luck to all teams and we'll see you at the races real soon!
Don’t go looking for SE’s Lance Mosley from May 17th – 22nd. He’ll be down in the Dominican Republic on an all expense paid vacation, uh…. I mean “riding trip” for Fuel TV.
Fuel is going to do a series of shows uncovering the BMX talent in Latin America. And they’ll be taking a few BMXers from the USA on the trips. The Dominican Republic will be stop #1 and Lane has been invited as one of the U.S. riders to go shred south of the border. Keep your eyes peeled for Lance on your new plasma TV.
OKLAHOMA CITY, May, 2006 -Hoffman Bikes announced that it will expand the Hoffman Bikes/Target/Right Guard team by welcoming two riders this year: Will Love and Anthony Napolitan."There is a new generation of rippers and we are now honored to support two of the best," Mat Hoffman said. "Welcome to the team!" -Anthony Napolitan, from Austintown, OH, has been with Hoffman Bikes as a flow team rider for the last year. During this past year, Anthony has been residing at Woodward East, focusing on his riding, and was able to hit many of the major contests, including the Dew Tour. -Will Love, from Kingsport, TN, is one of the youngest riders on the team at the age of 20. While Will may be new to the team, he is not new to the BMX scene. Last year, Will made the finals at the CFB contest in Oklahoma City, along with major coverage in RideBMX magazine, BMX Plus! magazine, Props Videos, a section in the RideBMX video "Living in Exile" and an upcoming spot on the next Props "Road Fools."
On 9 June individuals will turn into nationalistic bastards. Where BMX brings countries together, from 9 June countries split up again. The Dutch don't want to have anything to do with the Germans for instance. We all hope they're going to lose the opening game in their home country. Never liked Klinsmann anyway. The war will be on when the Fifa World Cup football starts. For the new poll we're listing a couple of the favorite teams that will participate at this summer's World Cup.
Without a chain, your bike would be worthless. You might not worry too much about what chain you run but you should check out KMC, they makes some good BMX chains. With weight being an issue these days, KMC have listened and manufactured a SL (Super Light) version of the K710 Kool Chain. This saves almost 20% (365 grams against 420 grams for the K710 version). It's got a Pin Power of 250 kilograms and a Breakload (min) of 950 kg. They come in both Gold and Silver and have a length of 100 links that fits anything from a 48-16 or less.
Roseville, Ca., The ABA National held in Roseville recently was a great weekend of racing and one of the highlights was sidehack racing. Yep sidehack racing has had a resurgence into modern day BMX with riders looking to challenge themselves with the help of a "monkey" and a different bike setup. The sidehack race was 3 gates of racing to the tune of 9 groups entered to race.
The Drop-out BMX hall will be the place to be for the Eastern Jam meets Jam Session. The BMX disciplines will be flatland A and B class and also street A and B. Next to that there will be a highest jump contest and a best trick competition. The date is 8 July 2006 which clashes with the Street Justice in Canada and the Slovanian race/dirt contest but if you're not living in that area and ccloser to Germany, mark this contest in your calendar for July 8th.
Cheerleading will be one of the side events so you know some chicks will be there to impress. Invite one of them out to the Chill-out and grill party in the AJZ that night. Make it happen.
What's the name of your company? Achim: I started a distribution company last year called fastpace bike distribution.
What exactly do you do? Achim: BMX.
What brands do you carry and are you looking into carrying more brands in the future? Achim: So far it's Hoffman Bikes and Colony. Colony product should be available later this summer. We are definitely looking into carrying more brands in the future. Really important to us is to have enough room to represent every company in a way they deserve.
How do you plan to combine bizznizz work with all the riding/shows/travel?
There were times when you got away with ads like these. Sure, it's been a while and the ad has been ridiculed in the meantime, but Lee sent us this Hammer ad which involved some girls and a bike and we're running it today.
BMX racing has become an Olympic sport. With only 48 spots open for the BMX community, it's good to know how to make it to the Olympics in 2008. Doug Martin, USA's Director of BMX Programs for '08 Olympics, sent over some info that should clear things up: In Beijing, there are a total of forty-eight (48) BMX start positions: thirty-two (32) for men and sixteen (16) for women. Olympic start positions are not guaranteed - they must be earned. The process described below was established by the UCI and is the same for every country.
It is important to understand that the Olympic Games represent a global ideal based on the world coming together once every four years to watch the best from every country compete.
