Greenville's BMX Legend, the Late Dave Mirra, to be Celebrated with a Permanent Memorial Dedicated at Jaycee Skatepark. Together with the Mirra Family, the City of Greenville Welcomes the Community to Attend the Free Event to Honor an Icon in the Place where his Legacy Started.
"Jaycee Skatepark is a very special place for our family, the community, and many top professional BMX riders," Lauren Everett (formerly Mirra) said. "To me, the park symbolizes blood, sweat, and tears found in the physical creation of the building of these ramps, as well as the endless training sessions that have taken Place here. It symbolizes determination, hard work, and dreams coming true. The statue that will now permanently live at this park represents the passion and inspiration Dave shared with all he came in contact with, on and off the bike."
Who:
In 1995, Dave Mira joined his brother, Tim, in Greenville from Syracuse, NY, to start a life in North Carolina. Jaycee Skatepark became Dave's second home where he not only got his start on his path to becoming the most decorated and legendary bike rider of all time, but he was responsible for encouraging other pro BMX riders to move to Greenville to ride and progress the sport of BMX at Jaycee Skatepark.
