The original Woodward Camp in central Pennsylvania has long been recognized as a symbolic home and leader in the progression of action sports. As a learning center and camp for children and youth, and as a training center for professional action sports athletes, Woodward is both a home and a sanctuary – and the creative epicenter for the entire skate and BMX community. It was the creation in 2006 of Woodward at Copper – one of the premier winter action sports camps in North America – that began the relationship between Powdr Corp. and Woodward.
“We could not be more excited about this new partnership,” said John Cumming, Chief Executive Officer of Powdr Corp. “Over the last year we have learned a lot from Gary and his team as we’ve worked very closely together with Woodward at Copper. We hope that with their help we can create the Woodward experience on the snow, and at the same time expand the Woodward camp business in ways that only Woodward can conceive and create. Our goal is to make ‘The Woodward Experience’ even better.”
Gary Ream, President and long-time leader and creative force behind “The Woodward Experience,” agrees. “We’re in the business of providing unique and life-changing experiences for kids. Our camps provide a place for the youth of action sports to discover their passions and their inner strengths. Powdr Corp. understands this and is committed to incorporating this into their business culture, and we are optimistic that the best is yet to come.”
Ream and Cumming stress that the new partnership’s goal is to embrace and develop the Woodward brand across many new platforms – in ways that create rich, multi-dimensional experiences for the action sports participant and fan.
Woodward and Powdr Corp. are currently looking at new locations to develop “The Woodward Experience.” The first expansion project is in motion at Powdr Corp.’s Boreal Mountain Resort in Lake Tahoe. Woodward Tahoe is currently in the planning stages and is expected to open in the summer of 2012.
