You recently picked up a girl to ride for Tall Order. Can you tell us something about that?
Sebastian Keep: Yea we sponsored Charlotte Worthington, she is rad! I think the only reason girls bmx is behind the guys in progression terms atm is they haven’t had decades of encouragement and belief from sponsors, media and the industry like the men have had. I mean all of the marketing has been aimed at young men. I'm stoked to get out on riding trips with her and do my bit to help her progress.
Vlogging with the team is a newer way to promote the brand. How many subscribers do you have?
Sebastian Keep: I used to be the TM for Federal and producing content was something I really enjoyed doing. Now I'm running tall order I don't have a big budget so I decided to film myself, I really like making videos and I'd like to produce content with a higher production value in the future. I have around 100k subscribers. I don't think it matters how many subscribers you have, I think what matters is Do people enjoy our content? Our content promotes BMX for what it has always been to me, going out and having fun on bikes with friends.
Who is a big help coming up with new episodes?
Bas: It's hard to think of new ideas for videos every we ek most of the ideas I've come up with myself during the morning run along the beach but the guys have helped out lots too.
How cool is it to have that team van so you can go on trips?
Bas: It's amazing! For me bmx has always been about packing a van with friends and travelling to ride new spots and so having a van is absolutely essential!
How long has a trip to Eindhoven been in the works?
Sebastian Keep: I've wanted to come over to Eindhoven for a while now and so I just decided a week or so before to get it done!
Is that the first international trip of the team?
Sebastian Keep: We went to Germany and Austria together last year for the Ride Further tour.
Any thoughts on the 040BMXPARK?
Sebastian Keep: I think the park is unreal and seeing Tom ride it is incredible, he really is a product of his environment!
How is it to hang out with Mr. Tom van den Bogaard again?
Sebastian Keep: Tom is so rad! He is the nicest guy ever and having a guy like Tom riding for my company makes me so proud and makes all the hard work worth it!
Visiting your distributor Pure BMX makes this a nice business expense, doesn't it?
Sebastian Keep: Hahaha yes I have known Paul for many years, it's so sick what he has done in Holland and I'm very stoked and proud to be doing business with an old friend! Paul is BMX!
How is it to be the responsible one most of the time?
Sebastian Keep: It's fun but also hard work at times haha. The first trip I went on I was 16, we traveled to Spain in the back of a van with a bunch of older riders and so it's fun to do the same for the younger riders. Showing them the culture of BMX travel but also trying to teach them to respect BMX and to enjoy it for what it is and not get carried away with thinking it owes you something.
In order to make a living in BMX you have to have a passion for it. Do you agree on that one?
Sebastian Keep: Yes 100%
What does the future hold for Tall Order?
Sebastian Keep: I can't predict that but I am ambitious and also I'm enjoying it right now so we’ll definitely be continuing down the road we are on with increasing speed.
