Big news today, although if you follow Julian Molina you may have realized something was up, but today it's official. Julian Molina is riding for GT. The BMX world got their first taste of Julian Molina back in 2013, when a photo surfaced of a scrawny kid in tattered clothes stretching a no-hander on a jalopy of a bike with only one leg. The photo was shared with the caption, “When you catch yourself complaining that your frame is too short or that you don’t like your bars, just think of this kid in Columbia, who’s roasting a no-hander on some beat up bike with one-fucking-leg. Julian is the man.” Damn right, Julian is the man. Not only was that image inspiring, but it slapped you across the face with perspective, for despite being both disadvantaged and handicapped, this kid from Columbia clearly saw no limits of what he was capable of. The key word here is limits, which, Julian doesn’t appear to have.
Over the course of the next eight years, Julian’s progression skyrocketed beyond what anyone probably ever imagined. With the culmination being the opportunity to film a video for the X Games Real BMX series in 2020. Where Julian was pitted against five of the best BMX riders in the world, each having to film a 90 second video part to later be judged by, well, more legendary BMX riders. When all was said and done, not only was Julian in the spotlight on the world stage, with the show being aired on NBC, but he also took the Fan Favorite win by a landslide.
Vans and Cult have joined forces once again on the Old Skool Pro BMX, inspired by both brands’ storied histories in BMX. Part of a new head-to-toe Vans x CULT collection, the Old Skool Pro BMX brings together CULT’s iconic graphic details and styling with one of Vans’ most classic silhouettes. Designed to perform at the level of shared team riders like Dakota Roche, Sean Richany, and Angie Marino, the shoe features Vans’ revolutionary WAFFLECUP BMX, a first-of-its-kind technology in BMX that delivers the best combination of support and durability without sacrificing pedal feel. Specifically designed and tested by and for BMXers, WAFFLECUP BMX features a herringbone underlayer that adds a second life beneath Vans’ classic gum rubber compound with a more rigid flex pattern, all reinforced like a tank.
Vans Europe are excited to announce a new initiative to support local BMX stores, their riders and their communities. The Circle is a brand new Vans BMX filming competition where 10 BMX shops from across the UK, Netherlands, Germany, France, Spain, Italy and Russia will go head to head for the chance to win up to €10,000 in prize money. Filmed entirely at their local spots, The Circle will be a real chance for local BMX communities to showcase their crew of talent to viewers across the world – pros, ams, local heroes, creatives – everyone who contributes to their scene and makes their BMX circle what it is.
All full edits will be available to view on DIG from November 6th for the public to vote on their “Fans Favourite”, before The Circle will culminate in a live one-hour online screening on 14th November.
Vans will bring together some of the most prolific names in the BMX world to judge the competition – including Dakota Roche, Alex Valentino, Peter Adam, Jon Taylor.
The Circle guidelines are simple but solid:
STEP 1 – BE INCLUSIVE: Each team can have up to 6 members but we don’t want just want the pros. We want the local heroes too.
STEP 2 – BE CREATIVE: The video part should showcase the team’s creativity in riding, filming and editing.
STEP 3 – BE COMMUNITY MINDED: After all, the community is the 5th judge. Gather the troops and get them involved.

GT x Team Simon AuctionIn early September a friend of everyone here at GT was struck down with a life-changing health emergency–our good friend Simon Tabron suffered an extremely raredouble-trauma, first a major heart attack and then almost immediately afterwards, a major stroke –it’s no doubt that this will affect Si and his young family’s lives forever, and they need our help. At times like these, our community comes together and does just that. Simon is one of the good guys: a multiple world champion and X-games medallist, a showman exuding in personality, talent, and a style that just makes bike riding look like a good time.
Si also spent a couple of years on the GT UK freestyle team riding in GT Air Shows during the early nineties, demoing BMX to a new crowd, before emigrating to the USA and living his BMX dream. To help raise some much-needed funds for Si and his wife and young kids, we’ve put up for auction an exclusive GT Bicycles package: the last remaining limited-edition Gary Turner built BMX frame kits. The kit includes a made-in-the-USA 4130 cromoly frame, forks, bars, along with a signed certificate of authenticity, GT cap, key-ring and more –in a GT presentation box. The limited run of handmade framesets sold out in hours –and we have two available up for auction.
Two of the world's most iconic brands in BMX team up for another collection of footwear inspired by CULT's iconic style. Celebrating both brands' storied histories together, the Vans x CULT Slip-On BMX features sturdy canvas uppers branded with a custom labeling package, enhanced sockliners for superior cushioning and impact protection, and the revolutionary Vans Wafflecup BMX construction that offers the support of a cupsole without sacrificing any of the grip or pedalfeel of a traditional vulcanized shoe. The Slip-On BMX also includes DURACAP reinforcement rubber underlays in high wear areas for unrivaled durability, and Vans original waffle outsoles made of a rubber that offers grip and support. Michram Industries has been a sponsor of mine, running his chain rings for two years now. As a fellow Australian company, I really wanted to support local and ride for a local brand. We decided that we wanted to collaborate together to introduce a new stiffer and stronger "OWT" Optimal Weave Technology. My main key points when designing the rim was, I wanted to have it represent my love of clean lines and stealth black with a unique finish. We came up with the hand-woven layered design which to me has a real military, camp stealth vibe. As a world champion, I wanted to make sure that it was world class quality and available in all 20-24 inch rim sizes, as well as the strongest, stiffest and lightest rim combination.
It's finished with a matte black carbon finish, grey logos and decals...clean, class and simple.
-Caroline Buchanan
Specs:
-All rim sizes 20 inch and 24 inch
-OWT (Optimal Weave Technology) is our newest and strongest rim yet
-Finished with multiple layers of hand woven T800 carbon fibre
-Bound together with a 255 degree high TG resin to given them optimal strength and stiffness
-5 year warranty!
Today, etnies is very proud to launch the Camber Crank Shoe, inspired by the Marana and designed especially for those riders using flat pedals, with the OCX-3 Michelin rubber compound that offers superior grip, durability and cushioning. Aesthetically designed with the skateboarding heritage of the Barge and Marana, the Camber Crank outsole is made of the Michelin compound that is versatile under all conditions and offers durability and cushioning.
The Camber Crank was also designed with a luggy tread pattern on the toe and heel that allows for uphill and downhill trekking while the stiff molded TPU in the midsole provides positive energy transfer and protection from the pedal upon impact.
After countless requests to bring the Caveman frame back into production we have listened and come through with the goods. On this batch of frames the graphics and styling give a nod to one of the originals from the past as some of you will be quick to point out. With it's bold design and brightly coloured appearance we took Mike Escamilla's idea and ran with it. Resulting in a tasteful reincarnation of a favourite classic the WAL (Wilkerson Airlines).
Rooftop signature frame with bolt on removable steel bashguard:
-Top tube: 20.8"
-Chain stay length: 13.65" Slammed
-Head Tube Angle 75 degrees
-Seat tube angle: 69 degrees
