More than 250 athletes from around the globe will be competing at Winter X Games 12 for a million dollars in prize money, the first million dollar purse in X Games history. Medalists will see the largest increase, with first-place finishers receiving 50 percent more than last year. With the overall purse for Winter X Games 12 increased by 38 percent from last year, the total prize purse for all X Games events to be held in 2008 now exceeds $3 million. This year, X Games events will be held in Aspen, Shanghai, Los Angeles, Mexico City, Dubai and two other international markets which will be announced soon. These FAT Fridays are getting good when I don't know where to start. Slow days in BMX don't exist, at least not here. I'll just start typing away. The new issue of FreedomBMX came out and it states that the Rebel Jam is not happening this year. The organizers are calling it off in 2008 after three successful events at the Mellowpark in Berlin. But, the Rebel Jam is scheduled to be back in 2009 on a new location. The folks at the Mellowpark are still fighting to keep the park alive and you can enjoy the amazing park one more time at the Highway to Hill event (1 May) which might be the last one. We visited a UCI BMX race last weekend. The racing is getting faster and faster thanks to all the national programs that are set up to get as many racers to the Olympics in Beijing this August. Hey Guys! I just thought would drop you a line and let you know that some of us Fly guys are on a trip right now in Australia. We decided to do a little trip to hang out for a longer summer. Dylan Smith, Kevin Kalkoff, David Quesada, Guiri and myself (Kevin Porter) have been here for about a week and a half. We are taking pictures and filming for a little video we are working on. Things are going really well, we saw some Kuala bears, rode so many parks already, and just finished riding a little street in Melbourne.
