What a blast! At this point the press release could end, there is nothing more to say about this year’s Telekom Local Support Miniramp Challenge in Berlin. For everybody who wasn’t able to be there, here is a summary of the happenings: Despite the dubious meteorological situation 26 teams from Germany, UK, Hungary, the Netherlands, Czech Republic and Austria participated and demonstrated banging tricks in the new miniramp at the Mellowpark. In the Pro class the guys from Berlin missed to use their home field advantage: Team “Village People” consisting of
Ondra Slez and
Michael Beran take the 3.500 € spot support home to the Czech Republic. With tricks like frontflips and backflip barspins over the spine they placed clearly before
Sergej Geier and
Björn “Bommel” Mager.
Tobi Wicke and
Mark König - who replaced injured
Markus Braumann in the finals - ranked 3rd.
In the amateur class
Adam Wilhelm and
Christian Anton from
“A-Team” demonstrated how to rock the local miniramp with a mix of high airs and technical lip tricks. These Berlin locals will invest the 2.000 € spot support directly into the Roof BMX hall. Team “Die Almdudler” (
Alexander Bär / Hannes Gutzeit) placed 2nd while “Untitled” (
Max Bergmann / Stefan Pauli) finished 3rd and travel back home with their bags full of stuff from Pro-tec, Felt Bikes and the Fiat Freestyle Team.
However the Telekom Local Support Miniramp Challenge was not only about the best team performance but also about the official qualification for the Telekom Extreme Playgrounds in Hamburg on August 29th, 2010. 20-year old
Hannes Gutzeit from Cologne won the amateur’s wildcard and now has the chance to share the ramp with riders like
Harry Main and
Mark Webb. He will be accompanied by
Michael Beran,
Ondra Slez and
Björn Mager who showed the best runs of the day in the pro class and won’t play the roles of the maverick in Hamburg.
