360 double whip, and 360 bar to whip on the spine, along with a flair whip and a bike-flip to tap. Daniel Dhers rode like a machine! Tricking every obstacle, and pulling a new one for him, a superman seat-grab to whip on the spine. And the man who came out with the win was Alex Coulbourne. He did a barrel roll and 360 double whip on the spine, a 900, and made BMX history with a barrel roll/flair to foot-jam on the sub-box while the crowd chanted his name. If the Masters put up the Super Ramp again next year, it should be one of the highlights of the year.

Next was the highly anticipated dirt final on the huge jumps under the bridge. With the night pitch black, what seemed like all of Cologne crowded around the jumps to watch the brightly lit jumps. As the riders rode through the fireworks across the Cologne skyline, the crowd went insane! Marcus Hampl, who was one of the guys who build this year’s jumps, rode super stylish and did numerous 360 combos, making it look so easy. Rob Darden pulled a 720 x-up and 720 bar, along with many other tricks. Alexandro Caro rode like the true dirt jumper he is, representing South America. He did many huge flip and spin combos. Ben Wallace rode higher than anybody else, looking so comfortable on the enormous jumps. Cory Nastazio went back flip to front flip back to back, along with pulling a 360 double whip and a Backflip 360 which Catfish and the judges called the first ever “360, catch, 360". Fifteen year old Brett Banasiewicz pulled a front flip and front flip no-hander on the first 30 foot set. He also pulled two triple whips and a 360 whip to bar. TJ Ellis won the contest on the big jumps. It wasn’t a hard choice for the judges to put him on top of the podium, as he did a flip super-man straight into a front-flip no hander, and the first ever front flip whip on dirt. It was sick!

The finale of the BMX Masters 2010 was the park final. And it was amazing! Even though riders were dying in the heat and getting beat up on the asphalt, they still went over their limits. Its BMX, it’s the Masters, there is no other way. The fans packed around the park until they couldn’t move, to watch the contest, and they gave the riders as much support as they could. Ryan Taylor alley oop flaired the HUGE Channel and did a flair bar to earn himself 11th place. Jack Clark, 15 years old did a few bangers and placed 10th. Maxime Charveron rode so crazy, combining his street and park skills. Unfortunately he crashed really hard on an extraordinarily large 270 transfer. Dean Cueson rode super dialed and nailed a 720 bar and straight triple bar air. Ben Wallace rode super high as always and did one of the biggest backflips ever on a step down transfer. Bruno Hoffman rode so tech and stuck numerous spin to fakies on transfers. Michael Beran did a flip double whip, flair whip, and did the first ever clean, both pedals front-flip whip. James Foster did an unbelievable double whip step up to flat transfer, and a 360 suicide double bar to x-up. Then he tried a flip transfer and got a flat tire, took Ben Wallace’s bike, tried it again and broke Wallace’s bars! Mark Webb did his original decade to 360, a 900, and so many original tech tricks. Daniel Dhers did a 720 whip, 720 bars to turndown, and rode so fast with so many tricks. He couldn’t be stopped. Except for by one guy. Fifteen year old Brett Banasiewicz rode like he would never ride again. He did a Cash Roll, crazy double downside whip transfer, flair whip, and so much other stuff. He practically nailed everything, and got the well deserved victory.

This year’s Masters was so sick. In every event, things happened that didn’t seem possible. BMX history was made numerous times, and all the action was at it’s best. It couldn’t have been better. My three week European Tour has now come to an end, it has been one of the best trips of my life, even though I couldn’t do any riding. I look forward to getting my cast off back in the US. My next event is the Nike 6.0 HB BMX Pro, see you there!
