It doesn't take all too much to get a jam going. But still it puts pressure on the person who's in charge for the day. This time it was Dimitris' turn as the flyer invited everyone to come ring the bell in Asten-Heusden. You probably didn't know this but there are two places in NL they make bells at, Aarle-Rixtel, and Asten Heusden. They go worldwide so maybe even the bells in your church come from Asten or Ale. To make Dimitris' dirt jam a bit different he made a construction to place a bell in the middle of a double jump.

The goal was to hit the bell, either with your hand, bike, head, whatever. It didn't really matter as long as it said Kling!
Now this bell wasn't one of those fake ones from China. It was one of those legit heavy ones which made ringing it a bit difficult, especially because the cord that was hanging from it fell off at the first attempt. This left a heavy bell hanging over the jump that you needed to hit somehow.

The Ring Da Bell session started with a reasonable height and people hit it with their shoulders, their heads and hands. As the bell got raised, the only option was to hit it with your helmet, as in kicking a ball into a goal. In the end
Tom van den Boogaard, Patrick Harteveld and
Desmond Tessemaker were the ones going for first prize, a case of Jupiler Beer with one of those Chinese bells attached to it. After 3 failed attempts of Tom and Patrick it was Desmond who won the comp. Those who used TSG helmets got some dents in their helmet to remember the day. It was a good little session.

But before this little comp the kids track was used for a 20 minute session. Open to all. Paul's Boutique had dropped off some Vans goodies for the winners to pick from.
Desmond won again and he picked the Vans stickers.
Robin from Goirle picked the shoes,
Patrick Harteveld a T-shirt,
Philip de Jong a hat and both
Sem and
Govert Schonewille each got a Vans shirt as well.
But the jam wasn't about winning prizes, it was about riding bikes together and because of the great weather, that's what was being done. This was the first in a series of 6 dirt

jams we've got lined up this year. Next stop: Aarle-Rixtel (Saturday 2 April). Be there.
