We drove about three and a half hours and arrived at the concrete skatepark in the dark and decided to look for a camping place and thanks to TomTom we found one on the other side of Trier about 3 minutes from the Luxemburg border. We had some Bavaria beers and Hellmonds Kwekwater sitting on the field next to the camping and fixed our tents and beds for a good night sleep.
Waking up around 9 a.m. we found some water to wash ourselves and tried to find a person to pay for our stay at the field but we didn't see anyone so we took off, sorry but we did our best to pay for the campsite but we couldn't wait any longer, the Trier Concrete skatepark was waiting for us.
-Day 2: Money spent: Euro 222.99
Second day started good with riding the concrete park in Trier, Germany. The weather was not that good but it was dry and the park was awesome. Lots of quarters, banks, ledges made of smooth concrete situated on a hill with the city in the background, free to ride and not that crowded. Dennis is going to have surgery this Friday so he was cruising a bit, Bas did some cool canadian nosepicks, flips and pedalgrinds, Riccardo liked to air the quarters and Michael flowed the park with nice tables and turndowns. Pim was checking the transition of a quarter for a while and the grass landing behind it and took a try for a frontflip. He is pulling them in contests lately like the LG Paris and Rebel Jam but this time he had some trouble and landed on his back and head! He even tried it another time and landed on his backwheel but because the grass was wet he slipped and crashed again, not a good way to start a tour...
Behind some buildings close to the skatepark we found very nice trails made by the Traildiggers of Redbull and were shredded by Michael, Riccardo and Dennis. A good but short session and also worth to come back next time. We left Trier after a couple of hours and TomTom took us to Kortrijk, Belgium. After checking the free concrete park built by Team Pain in the dark we slept in the shadiest Formula 1 hotel in France. Kortrijk is close to the French border, strange people from former eastblock countries were walking/drinking outside so we decided to do a team interview in our small stinky room and had a good time with some Bavaria's, Jupilers and friend Jack Daniels....
-Day 3: Money spent: Euro 146.17
Third day was hangover day, with lots of beers and booze the interviews were funny as hell but it took its toll so we had a nice lunch with healthy food and hit the Kortrijk concrete park around 1 pm and were only companied by a couple of BMX'ers and 1 skateboarder! We also found an indoor skatepark earlier that day that was closed on Sunday and here the park was almost empty, it must be a hangover Sunday for all Belgium people, not only us. The craddle seen on the covers of Freedom magazine (Hannu Cools) and Ride UK (Phil Aller) was sketchier than it looks on the pictures, its big but riding it it feels small and bumpy so we had a lot of trouble riding the thing. Michael did his best but going all the way round was not possible this time, Riccardo was jumping the spine and did a nice 540 tire tab which was missed by filmer Dennis and Bas did some nice frontwheel manuals and pedal slides. This park is free and in a nice location, not crowded and nicely build by Team Pain. Time to go so TomTom took us to the DirtE19 jam (see report ) and after checking out the Antwerp trails it was time for our last stop: Hasselt, Belgium.
This huge concrete park is open daily from 10 a.m to 10 p.m and free of charge, it has a nice bowl with craddle, lots of ledges/wedges/rails/banks/stairs/spine/wall and more, all smooth concrete. More people in the park this time, mostly Emo-Skateboarders but no problems at all, respect for all. Bas did a nice pedalstall on top of the craddle, Riccardo almost aired the craddle and Pim joked around having a lot of backpain from his frontflip in Trier. It was dark when we left the park so the last pictures were taken of Pim doing a tailwhip and Michael throwing in a nice table. The very last picture shows we were still a team and after 1000km and spending Euro 397.27 it was the best Paul's Boutique PURE BMX FACTORY TEAM tour so far.........
