By the looks of it he broke his jaw but was in good spirits when they took him to the hospital. Get well soon Matthias.
Volume/Demolition rider Ben Brassfield pulled one of the best tricks of the night: wallride to tailwhip. It took him a few attempts but he nailed it on the 3rd. Riding for Fit bikes, Jackson Ratima brought some new school street style to the comp doing grind to 180's and 180 to fakie bar spins. Every competition has to have at least 1 frontflip attempt and that came in the form of Ronnie Michelini over the jump box. His second attempt put him and his ass out of comission as he landed seriously hard on it. Before he became the Assmaster Ronnie landed a very decent tailwhip from a flatbank into a 9 foot quarter and a smooth 3-whip. Reno local Mike Severt pulled a 3-lookback.
Redline bikes/Alpinestars rider Kevin Kiraly took the win for the night with flairs , 3-whips over the spine , Canadian footjams and a clean 360 over the jump box backwards. When the prizes were handed out Kevin asked that his winnings all go to Matthias.
Keep checking the site for more flyers since Gabe will be holding more competitions in the future. Just make sure you never stay at the Sands Regency.
