BMX Park
Venezuelan rider Daniel Dhers nailed both his runs as he took home the gold medal in the BMX Vert competition. “After injuring my knee a couple days ago at Shanghai’s SMP park, I wasn’t sure how I’d do, but with tonight’s win I feel confident and am ready for this summer’s X Games,” said Dhers. Kiattichai Wanitsakun of Thailand surprised everyone with his silver medal finish including Dhers, who commented that he had no idea there were so many strong riders in Asia. Veteran BMX rider Steven McCann of Australia was edged out by just the slimmest of margins to round out the podium with bronze.

BMX Vert
American riders dominated the BMX Vert competition as superstar Chad Kagy of State College, Pennsylvania continued his BMX dominance after already having won the gold in BMX Vert and a silver medal in BMX Big Air at this past X Games 12 in Los Angeles, California. "If I can come off what was the best year of my life last year and start off this year like I did in Shanghai by winning gold, then I hope ESPN will invite me back to another X Games event on another continent soon," said Kagy. "These past two days here have been all business, but I'm looking forward to taking in all the sites, sounds and culture of Shanghai over the next couple days." Taking home the silver medal was Zackery Warden of Woodward, Pennsylvania, who just edged out bronze medal winner and BMX veteran Dennis McCoy of Kansas City, Missouri.
