The 2nd Zero Gravity Expo kicked off Saturday the 15th of March in Assen, The Netherlands. The week prior to the contest DTX13 had worked hard together with the Pedal Park crew to get the wet dirt in shape and rideable for the weekend. The saturday started of with a practice session to get the line dialed in and think of some qualify runs. Most of the riders cleared the line first go which gave the organization good hopes on some banger runs. While practice went down the judges met to get the insight info on the way of judging during the event, instead of a traditional judging method we tried to do it the fmx way. 1 judge for tricks / 1 judge for style / 1 judge for execution and a head judge for the final decisions.
The riders list was filled with riders out of Holland, Austria, Belgium and Ale Blie(!). Qualify went down in a 3 run 2 counts system where the first 8 riders progressed to sundays finals. Qualification saw riders sending it on the first booter followed by 2 big hips.
Tom Selbeck went technical in his combo's and put

down some solid 270 no handers on the last hip.
Bas Fokkinga was clean as always and never had to put that extra pedal in to clear the line. Top 3 in qualify were
Tobi Merz (Au) who drove 16 hours straight in a Volkswagen t3 to join the contest,
Kenneth Tancré (Be) which by far had the most slams on the course prior to qualifying due to having so much fun sending new tricks and top qualifier
Tom van den Bogaard who showed the crowd what the term 'stylish' means.
After qualifying the Gopro best trick went down. People were still hyped of qualifying and went bonkers for the best trick jam session. Super stretched super seaters, flip no hander to toboggans, whip to no handers name it, all was tried. In the end
Kenneth Tancré pulled a 360 barspin to tailwhip on the Gopro jump and took home a complete Gopro package.
Sunday morning the Pro contest kicked off with practice for BMX. After the Masters of Dirt riders party on saturday it was fun seeing some people send it the first couple of runs. At 3 o clock we started with the BMX finals. We turned the qualy list upside down to get the start order for the finals that were judged the same way as the day before but now had a 3 run best count format.
Horst, Patflip and
Beavis had put all their effort in last nights

party and were a bit wobbly first runs.
Tom Selbeck was prepared to make the run he wanted the day before and the top 3 of qualifying was ready to make their marks again.
Finals saw 3 flawless runs of
Tom van den Bogaard while
Kenneth was pushing himself to hard in the first 2 runs which ended up with crashes. Tom was leading finals followed by
Tobi Merz who steppen up last run and put down a 720 on the last set.
Tom Selbeck finished his finals with a smooth 270 no hander. Last 2 riders up where Kenneth and Tom B. Tom put down a 270 double downwhip to end his final run. Kenneth send his winning best trick jump on the first set in finals (360 bar to whip) followed by a 270 and flipwhip.
I want to thank all riders for coming out and making the contest. Thanks Gopro for the best trick jam and Masters of Dirt for delivering a sweet ass after party! See you all next year
