There were organized parties in a castle and in the city. Some other party happenings took place in the parking lot, the campsite, in the vending area and underneath the starting hill. The big crowd showed up on both Friday and Saturday which was nice. Too many people you only see a few times a year. It was good to catch up. The street finals went off in a serious way.
Scotty Cranmer made it to Cologne but was too tired to ride which was a shame. He went to bed at 9:30pm every night and simply never woke up to a state where he could ride. He missed the Braun Spine contest and also street.
It would have been good to see how he'd done among the Euro shredders, the Mexicans, Allan Cooke and Daniel Dhers. It wasn't meant to be. He made the trip to Germany to sleep. Sounds like a waste.
We'll leave this report by mentioning some of the highlights:
Bjorn Mager: Flip double whip
Alessandro Barbero: Windshield wiper
Daniel Dhers: superman seatgrab to tailwhip, 720 barrell roll, fronty over the spine
Ben Wallace: Triple whip over the box
Maxime Charveron: Huge fronty, Transfer
Michael Beran: Flip-double whip, no-handed fronty, fronty to tailwhip attempts
Leon Perkins: Insane transfer
Jason Phelan: Alley oop transfer
Try to catch a video or two about the comp to get a better feeling about what went on. The announcers didn't have much of a voice left as they gave everything to make this good. And so did the riders.
The level was raised. Where does it stop?
