That place closed, so John Paul Rogers & I & two ugly chicks went to another club. Everyone followed us. After a bit, the bouncers started kicking everyone out for no reason. On the way out, I called the Mafia looking owner a “pizza face bitch!” –He grabbed me & a little fight broke out in the doorway. I was on the ground, but got away. I think Sean McKinney was kicking one of the bouncers on the ground. John Paul & I shaded out of there with the 2 ugly girls & we went to another bar & then back to their house & stayed the night.”
Looking Back Now
Oh man, this was when the contests were REALLY fun! This was years before there was any big money to be earned at the contests. So it was completely normal for all of the top pros to roll out to the clubs & act like fools the night before the contest. I remember this night quite clearly. The look on the guy’s face when I called him a “Pizza face bitch” was classic! He wanted to kill me! But of course I squirmed out of it when I was on the ground. By the time I got up, Sean McKinney & some others were kicking him when he was on the ground. Classic, I tell ya. I’m sure somebody should have gone to jail. But we seemed to always get out of these predicaments unscathed.
How funny is it that Dave Mirra (my Haro teammate at the time), Jay Myron, Dennis McCoy, Matt Hoffman, Rick Thorne & others were out causing trouble the night before a contest? Man, you won’t see that nowadays.
Oh, by the way, I won street in the “Stunt Boy” (expert) class that weekend. It was my first contest on Haro.
Here’s a funny snippet from the next night out of my journal:
“A bunch of us went to the same country bar from Thursday night. John Paul & I tried ignoring the girls from Thursday, but it didn’t work. We ended up going home with them again."
Man, two nights in a row with the same ugly chicks? That’s what happens when you hang out with John Paul…

This isn't from the contest, but it's the same era. If you really know your early 90's bikes, you'll be able to tell that I'm on a Haro Sport with a bashguard. And if you're really keen, you'd know that this pic was taken by Bart de Jong in Eindhoven, Holland....
