Battle of the champions
You’ll barely get the pleasure of seeing the creme of the crop of Freestyle Motocross in one spot without chasing prize money, but fame and glory. Of course this show couldn’t go down without a battle of the champions. Czech superstar Petr Pilat took on the two- time FMX world champion David Rinaldo, the FIM/IFMXF world champion and fellow- countryman Libor Podmol and local hero Kai Haase, who took his performance to unknown heights pushed by an enthusiastic home crowd. With a spectacular superman seat grab Haase exceeded his competitors before thanking the audience with a proper champaign shower.
More flips for the world
Everyone who thought that the performance of the BMX and MTB riders would be in anyway inferior to the engine powered folks was proven wrong. With a little help of a toe in and an electrical winch that catapulted the riders up to 45 mph Bienvenido Auguado showed a no handed front flip, Sam Reynolds flew a double tail whip and Frenchman Patrick Guimez wowed the audience with a double back flip, for which he earned the first standing ovation of the night. The people in the stands ultimately erupted when Simon Moratz showed a textbook back flip superman followed by a 360 flip.
If a humblebee can fly elegantly through the air, why shouldn’t a sled?
One of the most gravity-defying statements of the night was performed by Norwegian sled rider Jostein Stenberg who launched his 550 lbs. vehicle into the sky with a back flip. Additionally, quad rider Ales Rosman jumped a superman on his four-wheeler, which initiated the Final Mayhem - the grand finale that included all the athletes of the show. If you missed the Masters of Dirt by Monster Energy in Berlin you still have one chance: On September 20th the show will be in the O2 World Hamburg. Last tickets are available at the ticket counter in the arena.
