Tony Campos, Jimmy Walker and Koji Kraft represented us at the vert demo. Sadly I did not manage to get any photos of the guys doing their thing.
Mike worked with the ever diminishing space he was given and built a solid park for the event. The atmosphere was great and sadly something which I cannot capture in words. Dennis Enarson was in Northern California so dropped by and pocketed the $1000 first prize with things like double whips and wall tap flairs. Unfortunately Nick "Dawg" Valencia popped his knee out on a bailed wall tap shutting the comp down for a bit. Get well soon buddy.
All the way from LA were Sean Logan and Sean Stack. Along with them brought some flips and clicked super cans. Small in stature but large in wildness was Joel Hulsey throwing down things like a one-handed ninja walk across the vert wall. Small in wildness but large in stature Mike Krnaich then did it from wedge to wedge with a whip. Samar Carillo nailed a quarter to driveway flair after a few attempts while his buddy Zack Shoemaker did one on a quarter ... while holding his bars in the under handed position.
For me the trick of the day was a heel clicker over the smaller box by San Bruno rider Joe Chernoff who also nailed a truck to x-up over the larger box. Chris Savoy from Fairfield stuck a huge double peg stall going off a quarter and stalling the vert wall behind it. The FMX'ers next door did not steal all the crowd and everyone was into it.
The folks at Fringe gear put up $100 for best trick but I have no idea who won.
Alpine Stars poster boy Kevin Kiraly took my camera and got some paparazzi shots of various riders.
