Becky, Marketing co-ordinator over at Hotwheels sent me an E-mail to inform me about their latest team rider trip to Scandinavia. Together with the pics it makes for a good tour report for FATBMX. Read on what Becky and the boys experienced on their trip up North.
I just wanted to let you know that the Hot Wheels roooooadtrip went real well and we returned from Scandinavia last week! We visited Gothenburg and Stockholm in Sweden, Oslo in Norway and Copenhagen in Denmark - it was amazing! I really didn't know what to expect, all I wanted was for the guys to have fun, get to ride some different places, sample the local night life, meet new people and friends! and on top of all that I wished for good weather!! I guess that is actually quite a lot to ask for when visiting new countries, you can never be sure the way things will work.
All in all things went without any major problems, there were the couple of days when the toilet on the bus got blocked and it stank real bad!.... then the bus seemed to break down on the ferry between Denmark and Sweden, just as I thought we'd spend the next few hours travelling backwards and forwards feeling continually worse with sick sickness, Dog-egg (Shaun!) went to the driver and spread some knowledge - the bus started! Knowledge had a hundred stories to tell, and the funniest conversations to listen to were the ones between him, Joe and Jim - something you need to hear for yourself. Will celebrated his birthday in a crazy commune in Oslo, N.J didn't celebrate his birthday as he was in bed with sea sickness on the journey out - we made sure to celebrate for him!
When we first arrived in Gothenburg we met up with Johan Fahlnaes from Childstore BMX and his girlfriend Maria, they are both lovely and Johan was a huge help with everything throughout the week, so a massive thank-you to him. We met so many people along the way, I cannot believe how friendly everyone was, the generous hospitality in all three countries was just incredible. Trond from Spokesman in Oslo gave us a place to park the bus and introduced us to some local guys. Niels Thanild from Copenhagen has to be one of the friendliest people you could wish to meet in such a short space of time!...if you're ever in Copenhagen be sure to hook up with Niels and buy him a beer!
Throughout the entire trip the guys continued to amaze me each day with the stuff they were pulling and the places we found to ride ;0) So thanks to each of them for making the trip possible, it wouldn't have been the same if any one of them had not made it. With such a wide range of personalities on board the bus you would expect that things may get a little uncomfortable, but everyone just got on so well for the whole ten days and this roadtrip is an experience I won't forget!! Cheers to Will, Ashley, Joe, Jim, Northern, Mr. Pink, Vinny, Shaun and Paul. Also thanks to Banners, be sure to check out an upcoming issue of Ride UK for photo's and full story on the trip.... Here are a few photo's of some happy memories for you!...
