The philosophy behind the euroBMXstreet championship series:
There have never been a BMX -Freestyle- European Championship and we would like to establish one.
The increase in performance between the National Championships and the Oversee-dominated BMX-worlds is amazing. Also the financial and organizing expenditure of a World Championship is very huge and it is very demanding for the riders and promoters. BMX Freestyle deserves its own European Champions. The thing should be for fun and it should work, because of that we would like to start with the street-discipline in 2004. So we can keep the expenditure easy to grasp and we can gather some experiences, too. In 2005 there will be some more disciplines, if the idea is successful in this year.
Also there are not many series in Europe, we establish one similar to the Backyard Jam, but it is continental. We think this is for an European Championship ingenious, because not the day condition or the personal calendar or even injury should make the decision but only the runs should. The first two rounds will take place as an indoor event. The third one in Darmstadt is going to be an outdoor event at the Outdoor-Park near the city wall in the town centre. It takes place at the weekend before the World Championship in Cologne and so it is a possibility to get orientation and to prepare for the worlds, too. Maybe some International top rider take this opportunity... Certainly the first euroBMXstreet will not be perfect, but we are sure that everyone try hard and everyone will have some fun!
Round two in Oldenburg had a decent turnout and a good vibe going. Please find the results right here:
