I am very happy to say that we have two new amateur women in this group. The outstanding winner was Eszter Várkonyi who will next year move up into elite category. The other girls with younger and older talents put on a great show and enjoyed their competition. We need more girls and women in Flatland and it’s slowly happening now at a roots level.
Young guns are ruling this category, Thuránszky Levente took Gold and Kriston Patrik the silver. All new combos tested as we make our journey for FISE at the end of May. We really appreciate the older Amateur men who are making their license and helping us by supporting the events and the younger riders coming up.
We made this category for those riders who don’t want to make a license but would like to take part in any of our contests and the group is growing which is nice to see because some of the riders disappeared for a while and now, they’re coming back and supporting the movement of flatland in Hungary, which stopped a long time ago. Nagy David dominated this category with some of his trademark tricks, great to see him back riding, supporting and also helping the next generation.
We had three entries, two from Hungary and one from Czech Republic. It’s always a battle with the two Hungarian girls; it could be either one of them each taking the top spot. Kádár Veronika had a “no touch” run in qualifications and Mondics Anna struggled with some of her new combos. However, in the finals, Anna settled into her new combos and had very few mistakes to give her the clear win. Both girls are also training and preparing for FISE, these contests are perfect for that. Third place went to Theresa from the Czech Republic who also enjoyed a long weekend of riding during our classes and the contest. It’s so motivating to see how much someone can enjoy this sport and she learnt two new tricks this weekend!
We had four elite men competitors, two from Hungary and two from the Czech Republic. It’s fair to say that Martin Drazil dominated this category with his very technical front wheel lines and I had the pleasure of riding with him on the Saturday night and witnessed him doing a back wheel trick! Bordás Ákos was still suffering from illness but grabbed the second place mixing some new and old lines. Kaposvári Martin got third, Martin has some super difficult front wheel brakeless jump switches, when they work it’s an amazing combo but they come with high risk too! Thanks to both Martin Dražil and Adam Pekař for making the trip once again, flatland needs more riders like them bringing energy and support for the future of the sport.
