The 2009 Rockstar Energy Drink BMX Games presented by Strictly BMX rolled out its first day of action at Central Pier, Docklands and it was a big one! Opening the three day event were the Junior and Expert riders going through their paces at the Haro Bikes Street/Park qualifiers. A few nasty crashes early on didn’t deter the young up and coming BMX stars from putting on some gutsy displays of extreme freestyle BMX at its most dynamic.
Teen sensation
Alex Hiam from Brisbane WOW’ed the crowd with a spectacle of BMX Aerials and freestyle manoeuvres, worthy of most riders well beyond his 13 years. Fresh from his first heat in the qualifiers, Alex was relaxed and looking forward to his second year at the BMX Games -
“I was feeling pretty confident and just having fun. All the guys were riding really good and I’m heaps excited about the next couple of days!” Sunday welcomes the second day of competition and a full day
