After the Transit RIP editorial of February we received a whopping number of 1 story from Erik de Bruin (thanks Erik!). It's either that the editorial was not read by the people who experienced a ride in Markus' van or they were too drunk to remember.
We'll give it one more month for you to type out a story of you in the Transit and place them all together next month as a tribute to the BMX van that survived 467.000 BMX kilometers. Show some appreciation.
Bart
Here's Erik's story to give you an idea of what we're looking for:
I went to Köln with a couple of friends about 9 or 10 years ago and Markus was generous enough to let us crash at his place. During the day the Transit took us to the Nortbrigade-park and other street-spots, and after the sun went down, it drove us all over the place (several bars, disco's and even a rolling stones concert).
At dawn we used the van to sleep in. It fitted 5 drunk guys easily! I remember waking up because Markus squirted a well aimed beam of water in my ear with his watergun... a standard tool in a punk-car.
At the end of the weekend, we were all totally broke, so we came up with lame gas-money... I'm still embarrassed 'cause of that. It was so cool that when he drove us to the trainstation, a train just arrived which was bombed by graffiti-artists top to bottom and he smiled... those same guys spraypainted graffiti on his van at his request. That was probably the only time the Transit blended in with the environment, ever!
A cool car needs a cool driver to give it character. Transit, rest in peace!
