"Last night I wasn't going to ride because I didn't even practice yesterday," Mirra said of his recovery from Thursday night's crash in his first run of Vert finals. "But I said to myself that there are a lot of cool and great fans here. And I did it all for the fans." Eighteen-year-old Scotty Cranmer (Jackson, N.J.) earned his first-ever X Games medal with a run that included a Front Flip Turndown. "The course was awesome," said Cranmer. "I had all the basics and so much more and I'm so excited to win my first X Games medal. I've been watching this since I was a kid. It's absolutely crazy." Ryan Nyquist (Greenville, N.C.) earned his 12th career X Games medal on his second run with a score of 88.66 to capture the bronze medal. He hit a 720 off the Step Up and a Backside Backflip of the Step Up. "I tried to go into my second run with more speed and more energy," Nyquist said after a fall on the first run but him way behind. "Toward the end of the (second) run I didn't know what happened. My legs were like Jello." Final Results from Home Depot Center on August 6, 2005 1. Dave Mirra, Greenville, N.C. - 89.33 2.
