The locals had put a lot of work into creating new lines and getting the jumps in shape. Next tot he dirt being well prepped, they also built up a Panna soccer arena and in another corner they had some little street ramps for those who fancied that. Even two loaner bikes were laying around for those who wanted to try it out.
It was free to ride the Hellentrails all day. They only thing you had to do was to sign up. A free Rockstar drink at registration pulled most of the riders to the stand and they signed the waiver which had something to do with the insurance policy. The local council is supportive but they've got this idea of building houses at the park and that means the Hellentrails would have to move. The surrounding neighbours prefer to have the park with the trails there so we'll see how that battle goes. On this day however nobody worried about that part and BMX was putting Goirle on the map again. I, for one, wouldn't have been in Goirle on a free Saturday if it wasn't for the Hellentrails jam. It gives the trails a bigger function than just a riding spot for the local riders.
Little contests were held during the day. Longest line, best trick, that kind of stuff. Some prizes were given out to those who did impressive stuff. But the most important part was to get together and ride. The turnout in Goirle was good. Lots of riders from Belgium too. After 4 hours of sprinting towards the several lines (no starting hill here) the batteries were empty and we packed it up. Thanks to the locals for putting this on. A good day at the trails for sure.
