We said it before and we'll say it again, Matt Bischoff is one stoked dude. RedBull came in with a couple of work crews and a bunch of top riders and changed his backyard into a dream. Although a bit chilly, the RedBull Build-Off went very well. With respected BMX ramp building teams consisting of:
Team 1: Aaron Bostrom, Burly Matt Gibeaut, and Ty Stuyvesant, Team 2: Ryan Corrigan, Ron Kimler and Chris Hallman and
Team 3 consisting of Craig Billingsley, Mike Ryan, and Glen Johns getting to work with a bunch of plywood, saws and nail guns, Matt's backyard changed real quick in three days time.
Then it was up to the riders to test the three courses and score them. With riders like
Dave Osato, Chris Doyle and
Van Homan around, you know that things got tested to the max. The crews had made use of the surrounding trees as well and Van Homan did a tree ride to downside whip into the ramp set-up. The ramp builders then scored the riders while they were riding their fresh courses. The winning riders were
Corey Martinez, Morgan Wade and
Gary de Jong (Young) who took the biggest part of the $ 7600,= USD purse. The team that received the best feedback from the riders (and $ 5000,= USD from RedBull), was camp Woodward with Ron Kimler, Hallman and Corrigan.
Catfish was rocking the mic during the sessions wearing Colin Winkleman's DK jersey showing respect to the man.
Now what's going to happen with the ramps? Matt "The Beard" Bischoff can keep them. We told you he's stoked. Leave it to RedBull to realize another amazing idea. What's next?
