In nineteen-seventy when I was five years old my father would drive my brother Devin and myself on Friday nights to begin competing on a new kind of race course at a neighborhood city park. Ron Mackler was putting on the twenty inch BMX bicycle races at Palms Park on Overland Avenue in West Los Angeles. The course was a combination dirt and cement race track that had six burm turns that were built around tall Douglas Fir trees and a small jump at the bottom of a hill. At the start of the race you had to be the racer in front first into the turn if you wanted to win.

The Snickers 180 contest at the Simpel Session was a short little intermezzo. The comp was held right before the Park/Street finals and riders did have the chance to warm up before sending themselves over the 50 centimeter high kicker. There was plenty of space to get speed but the rollback needed to be pulled. That was a problem for a few riders. It actually took a while before the first 180 was pulled. In the competition were a.o. Rob Darden, Chase Hawk, Scotty Cranmer, Karl Poynter, Ty Morrow, Brad Simms , Garrett 
What makes the Simpel Session so good? Well, a lot of things. If you have nothing to complain about, that means the organization has done its job. I couldn't think of anything that they could've done better so props to Risto & Mario Kalmre and their big crew. It seems like everything they do, they do it right or have people who do an amazing job at it. The course was designed by Nate Wessel, you can't go wrong there. Mario has a ramp building company that has been building ramps for years which made it easy for Nate when he 
What can you possibly write when you all have seen the live footage of the Simpel Session in Tallinn, Estonia. Even the long qualification rounds were shown live on the internet and it did take a while to get everything finished. Due to a late start (skateboarding ran an hour late) the BMX qualifiers ran till 10pm, exactly an hour behind schedule. This was not a problem for anyone as the riders yet to come were of high caliber. In fact, there was not an easy group and the riders showed great talent.
