In the meantime I passed my driving license for motorbike, I went to Tenerife to visit my parents, I started to take care of the Cream’s website and as usual I’m still riding my bike with a smile on my face…
How did you end up becoming the BMX TM for Pull-In?
I was traveling a lot in 2009 and a lot of friends were asking me where they could get some Pull-In boxers. Then I started to talk with Guillaume Baché, Head marketing manager @ Pull-In regarding the interest of foreign riders for the brand and their products, I told them that I could be great to develop the BMX program and settle down a European team, he was stoked concerning the project. They asked me to set up a BMX team and some other projects for 2010! I’m now the new team captain of the BMX team.
You have set up a BMX team for 2010. How hard is it to pick the right guys with the right image for a brand?
It was definitely complex to develop a team because we wanted to have a great crew of riders who are shredding on their bikes with different riding styles and at the same time people with great personalities. Pull-In is making original products that is why the team should also represent the spirit of the brand and I think we did great! We picked out the perfect crew! All the riders of the team are good friends of mine I couldn’t expect better than that!
Who is part of the team?
Guillaume Baché already developped a BMX team in flat & street, with Matthias Dandois, Alex Jumelin, Mangoose and myself but Guillaume wanted to develop the team in Europe. The Pull-in BMX team for 2010 is composed of: Street Simone Barraco (Italy) Mark Vos (The Netherlands) Eduards Zunda (Latvia) Mark Webb (UK) Mangoose (France) Arthur Dietrich (France) Flat Matthias Dandois (France) Alex Jumelin (France) 5)
Can you explain a little bit more about the Pull-In brand?
Pull-in is based in Hossegor (south west of France). If the pull-in underwear headquarters are in Hossegor, it’s not completely by chance. Indeed, after a surf contest in 2000, Emmanuel LOHEAC (pull-in creator) entered in partnership with friends to put into effect a project he had in his mind for long. The idea of a fashion underwear line is getting real, almost after having noted that no surfer or street-fashion-wear brand had really invested this way. With low rise jeans all the rage at the time (and still is), underwear became real image-projectors, with boxer shorts’ visibility an ever-recurrent theme, one of those rare trends to have clearly stood the test of time, to our advantage! Pull-in underwear is born and proposes underclothing for women and men, under an « hightech and tendency » influence. They have a big credibility in the Xtrem sports, because this is the spirit of the brand, and they have today a real credibility throught the fashion industry too.
What do you have planned with the BMX team for 2010?
For 2010 we have some great plans for the crew. First of all, the team will attend the main European contests such as the Simpel Session, the FISE and the BMX Masters. We’ve been planning to do a trip in Spain before the FISE. There is a very special trip in the works but I’ll keep you in the loop for that one!
Last words?
Thanks Bart for the interview and thanks Guillaume for the mission!
