2012 FATBMX INTERVIEW WITH MATT WHYATT:
Name: Matt Whyatt
Age: 21
Hometown: Melbourne, Australia
Sponsors: DC Shoes, Nitro Circus Live, Fist Gloves and Failure Bikes.
What's it like being on the road with the Circus? Matt: It is the craziest most exciting thing ever. The fun never stops!
You're doing some of the hardest tricks on a BMX, and you do them every couple of days too. How many sketchy landings have you had on tour? Matt: Yer it is definitely hard on my body having to go out and send it every 2nd night or so, I dislocated my shoulder 4 days ago so riding with that taped up at the moment and it is very painful but it's more painful siting out of the show and watching everyone else have fun.
Can you describe the size of the ramps at the Nitro Circus live tour? Matt: The Nitro ramps are pretty much the megaramp with jacked up lips so its 40ft and 50ft but they send you up high!
Do you have your show dialled in or do they differ from show to show? Matt: Pretty much have the same tricks for the show set out but if there is something I want to try or if I want to mix it up I can do that for sure.
Did you have a favourite stop so far in the countries you've visited? Matt: This Europe tour has been my favioute so far just the stuff we do outside of the shows filming for the tv series like racing Aston Martins and hover crafting and stuff like that not to mention we get to see the whole world while we are doing it.
Arnhem, Holland is up next. The biggest show on the tour and I think a lot of the BMX riders are going to go. Does the crowd motivate you to go the extra mile? Matt: Yer this is a sell out crowd of nearly 30,000 people so once you're up there and that many people are screaming there isn't much holding you back from trying anything you want!
Do you hang with the BMX-ers while you're on tour or is the Nitro Circus Tour one big family and you hang out together? Matt: It's pretty much one big family, we all hang out and do awesome stuff together everyone on this tour is just here to have fun and do crazy shit.
Travis Pastrana, is he: 1) The Energizer Bunny 2) Evil Knievel 3) Most multi talented guy ever 4) All of the above Matt: Number 4, haha he can do anything he wants. The energy never stops and he's not really scared of much!
Looking forward to the show Matt. Anything you'd like to say? Matt: I hope you and everyone there enjoys it. I can't wait to ride in front of our biggest crowd ever. 30,000 people is going to be insane!
