hotel, around 3/4am, there was this car dealership with a brand new VW on display and (Jason Phelan) the (funniest guy to party with) randomly, while just passing by it happen to open the door... It was unlocked, he jumped in and put it in Neutral and let it coast down the hill and left it on the trolly tracks over night hahahaha it was only seconds until a cop or other person saw us taking photos and laughing around the car so we ran to the hotel before anything else happened. The next day it was on its display again and not in pieces thankfully. I remember laughing so hard, a memorable moment for sure.
Biggest crash you've ever seen on a BMX?
Kevin Peraza: Biggest crash.... I saw (Jonathan Camacho) from Ecuador under rotate and nose case a double flip on a dirt jump right in front of me as I was walking back up the hill. His frame snapped, bars moved forward, face to the ground, Knocked out, it was all in slow-mo for me. I couldn't help but to be the first dude to pick him up off the ground. Helmet was dented and he was all beat up. Definitely one of the gnarliest crashes happen in front of me. Thank God he was wearing a certified helmet, he was good by the end of the day.Have you ever eaten fastfood for a month straight?
Kevin Peraza: I actually don't eat too much fastfood. I don't think I can go more than 3 days straight eating fast food hahaha.
Have you ever totaled a car?
Kevin Peraza: Technically no, but I recently got into a rear end crash in Los Angeles traffic and even though my car was fine, my airbags went off and that's considered a totaled loss through the insurance hahaha.
Did you ever get a fine for riding BMX?
Kevin Peraza: No, I always manage to get lucky and out of getting tickets for riding spots or skate only parks. I'm always nice and respectful to security or police. And just come back the next day if I can, hahaha. It won't be long until I do though, hahaha.
What's your nickname?
Kevin Peraza: Kp, I don't know. All my friends have a nickname but I don't. Who is the biggest legend you've seen at your local park?
Kevin Peraza: I use to have a backyard ramp with a foam pit and other cool stuff to ride and this one time I was riding street downtown, and I saw Ron Wilkerson pedaling around with the 2hip crew and I invited them back to my ramps at home. My Dad lost his Mind. He couldn't believe it. One of his heroes and a Legend in Bmx came to his house to ride. He is a good friend still to this day. THAT'S BMX.
Have you ever been caught by the police?
Kevin Peraza: We recently went to Mexico City with the Vans crew to film for the VANSBMXVIDEO that's coming out soon. We were sessioning a ledge drop for awhile, and some lady from the apartments in front called the cops on us and made it a big deal yelling at us and the cops to take us away. Luckily the Vans Mexico girl that was taking us around the city left with the cops to sort out the fine. That sucked hahahaha.Worst BMX injury you've had?
Kevin Peraza: At the first Dirt Conquers in Guadalajara Mexico, in 2013 I was sessioning this hitching post in the middle of the course. I did a 360 down whip over it and my back tire clipped, I nose cased the quarter and through me head first, I broke my collar bone separated my shoulder and knocked myself out real good. Thank God I was okay after and recovered just in time for another event.
Highest amount you paid for luggage?
Kevin Peraza: Damn, this one time I paid $350 because some dude decided to open my bag and saw my bike hahaha. I was in another country so I couldn't even argue or say no. He said "NO PAY, no bag in flight!" So I said whatever, luckily I had some cash.
Stoked to be going to Simple Session?
Kevin Peraza: Yeaa for sure, this would be my 5th time going. The vibe is always cool, course is always sick and super diverse. Dudes from every country in the world go, A lot of my friends go, the parties get SO LIT and it brings back a little of what bmx should look like. Everyone riding everything. Street, park and even dudes riding flatland. I can't wait for the good Fun!
