Sifiso Nhlapo: Knowing that the preparation paid off over the last 5 years and it puts me in a good position for Olympics
You recently hit a table during a race?
Sifiso Nhlapo: Yip, I got pushed wide on a berm(corner) and had no where to go but over the top of it. It was pretty steep on the otherside and I went over the bars, the crash was slow but from the height I came down I hit my head pretty hard and was concussed for 4hrs and spent three days in ICU. What are the chances of hitting a medic stretcher (table) haha
Where do you do all your training?
Sifiso Nhlapo: All my training is done in Europe as I am there for the race season most the year.
What started your interest in BMX? What made you initially pick up a bike and want to race?
Sifiso Nhlapo: I went and watched a friend race at the local track not far from my house in Alrode, I thought it was a pretty funky sport, extreme and not many other guys doing it so my mom bought me my first bike and I started racing.
What is on your iPod at the moment?
Sifiso Nhlapo: Gangster Music
Where did you get the nickname "Skizo" from?
Sifiso Nhlapo: From my friends at Potch Boys high, not sure how or why they though of that name…
What's the best thing about BMX racing?
Sifiso Nhlapo: Adrenalin rush, being in control most the time and knowing there is no one else to blame if something goes wrong but yourself.
What's the worst thing about BMX racing?
Sifiso Nhlapo: Rain & Crashing
Who is going to be your main competition at the Olypmics?
Sifiso Nhlapo: The same guys that were at World Champs and made it to quarter finals, most of those 32 riders will be there. If I had to think of names I would say Stromberg and Graves.
Who inspires you?
Sifiso Nhlapo: My mom and my sister who is a real go getter and achieves everything she puts her mind to.
