Dark clouds came in right before the Dirt finals but it stayed dry all night so the show went on. Good thing because the stands were filled with people and the conditions were next to perfect. With the best riders present the level was just insane. Diogo Canina was going wild on his brakeless DB,
Chris Gerber pulled a flip double whip,
Scotty Cranmer pulled a flair on a take off but did not make it through the sets once in front of the Salt Lake City crowd. Every rider had three runs of which the two best runs counted. This system mixed things up a bit but the big jumbotron helped keep track. With one rider to go
Brandon Dosch was in 2nd and
TJ Ellis in first. But the last rider up was
Ryan Nyquist, who had one bad run and one really good one. If he would stick the tricks in his last run he would have a good chance to move up to the top. He did stick his tricks in his run and finished it with a one-footed X-up 720. But TJ Ellis had rolled out of a frontflip tailwhip earlier and had a great variety of tricks. Whatever, it is nice not having to judge for a change so I shouldn't be letting this get to me right now. Nyquist 1, TJ 2, and Brandon Dosch 3.
