It was 10 Euros for a round trip to America for Philip and I. Beats the online specials by Ryanair and Easyjet. And we didn't even get a jet lag from it. The BMX JAM in America was on the program for Saturday and loads of riders took the time to travel to America for a session. And everyone had their pick; there was a BMX track with loads of jumps, some indoor ramps, trails across the street and also a lake jump set-up. The jam meant that there was music for the day and basically no rules. Riding your bike was the main thing, and having fun of course. Using race track take-offs as banks was possible for those who wanted to try things out. Transfers could be made and some sort of Killer jump was set up which Dennis Keunen and Mike van de Kerkhof used to pull their first backflips on dirt. The trails in the woods across the street were a bit soft but a nice addition to the BMX facility that Govert Schonewille has built up. To understand why his son Sem has so many skills you have to see the place. It's a BMX mecca for any kid who loves to ride. And that's exactly what happened at the jam. Happy faces, new tricks being pulled and plans were made to come back soon.

Out of a field of 20 BMX riders, Blake Lamb won the BMX park competition Sunday at the Gatorade Free Flow Tour’s final stop of the 2009 season, held in Joplin, Mo. Sixteen-year-old Lamb from Joplin earned the BMX park victory at Autumn Ramp Park after executing technical flairs and transfers, as well as a Superman seat grab during his winning run. Corey Morgan was second and John Pattreal finished in third place. “I’m super excited for the Finals!” Lamb said. “I better get ready, they’re really soon.” 

This week you can expect one how-to per day filmed and edited by the contest winner of the IFA contest in Berlin. Most of the following riders will explain a trick to you. Brush up on your German!

Kym Grosser won the pro class with moves like this nothing over the spine, add in huge backflip over the same, his first attempt pulled clean and damn high. And by the way, that's his first attempt at a backflip over a spine ever, the dude was seriously giving it all he had. Throw in a few 180 seat grab supermans, huge nothing transfers, and he had it locked down before the second group of pros even hit the park. It was that good of a day for this Aussie/Canadian. The ams keep getting better and better, and one of the standouts was definitely Johnny Bradley. Huge backflip transfers over the spine/hip, combined with a balls to the wall attitude, gave him the loudest yells of the day from 400+ people in attendance. Watch out for this guy, not only is he an up and coming shredder, he's also one of the nicest people you'll meet in the Vancouver scene. The world of BMX needs more "Johnny Bradleys".

These days, it seems to me, that everyone always talks about not taking their riding too seriously, and having as much fun as

Hamburg, Mekka of action sports. For Sunday, August 30th, the Summer Session of the T-Mobile Extreme Playgrounds brought the World's best wakeboarders, wakeskaters and BMX miniramp riders to northern Germany. 36 riders in total had 6.500 fans on their toes while the World's biggest wakeboarding event-the finals of the WWA Wake Park World Series-and the international BMX miniramp competition went down. Returning to three-peat his victories from 2007 and 2008, Tom Fooshee (US) made it a reality and grabbed every first place available. An amazing variety of tricks meant a safe first place for Maxine Sapulette (NL) in the Women Open. Mark Webb (UK) was unstoppable in the BMX miniramp competition. Rise Against earned themselves the title of Best Live Act 2009 with a blast of a punk rock show.

Out of a field of 23 BMX riders, Matt Whyatt won the BMX park competition Sunday at the Gatorade Free Flow Tour's stop in Greenville, N.C. 

In "Protown, USA" for the first time in the Tour's five-year history, 17-year-old Whyatt from Australia earned the BMX park victory at Jaycee Extreme Park after executing an alley-oop downside tailwhip and a flip whip during his winning run. Fellow Australian Nick Kajewski was second and JC Knecht finished in third place.

Judging the contest were professional BMX riders and Greenville residents Ryan Guettler, Marcus Tooker, Mike Laird and Colin Mackay.

"I'm so pumped," Whyatt said. "It's going to be so fun riding with everyone is Salt Lake City. All of the riders were so good today, I don't know how the judges decided between first, second and third!"

The sun came out again long enough to dry up the mini ramp so the contest could be finished up the way it was planned. It would have been a shame to get all the way here and not have a proper contest. If you did not watch it live I will give you the results right here. The trick lists will be shown by the top three videos that will be up shortly. Mark Webb ruled that mini ramp even when he had to leave the ramp for a second when he got a little wide. Mark is non-stop and the tricks he packs into his riding are all crazy. His barrell-roll-off-axis-360-straight-flair- over the spine (somebody name that) is awesome looking and he's got that one down too, just like all the other hard stuff he did. The empty wallet was filled by a $ 5000,= USD check so Webby had a reason to smile. Second went to buddy Ben Wallace, third to Alessandro Barbero and fourth to Sergej Geier. Best 360 over the spine was won by Ondra Slez with a truckdriver to no-hander,

Simpel Session 10 on February 5-7, 2010!

The forecast wasn't great that's why everyone had to catch the 09h30 shuttle from the hotel to the Waterski arena in Pinneberg for the T-Mobile Extreme Playgrounds Summer Session. The sun was out and as soon as the big school bus stopped at the location the bikes came out and practice started. Dennis Enarson did not make it as he's injured. Rob Darden and Josh Harrington arrived after a trip from hell (24 hours total). They put their bikes together, rolled around for 10 seconds and the contest began. Head to head, with riders such as Mark Webb, Ben Wallace, Alessandro Barbero, Wicke, Bommel and more. These first runs could count as the end result of the competition if it would rain for the rest of the day so it mattered what was done. Luckily one full round was pulled off and the riders in bold made it to the second round:
