Having the right sized bike is everything. The 18 inch is awesome for a rider who would be struggling with a full sized 20" bike and has outgrown the 16" bike. Parents of 8-11 year olds ask me all the time what size bike they need to get for their kid. Depending on their size I can recommend the 18" version simply because they'll be able to handle the bike. The 20" bike will be too big for them and they might give up in the next 12 months because their bike is too heavy or bulky for them. After 2 years on the 18", the bike can be sold and that money can
