After the first 2021 stop in Le Havre, the French Urban Sports tour will make a stop in Canet-en-Roussillon on September 18th and 19th for BMX and Roller Freestyle Park competitions. Completed with BMX Flatland demonstrations, this free and open to all event (on presentation of a health pass) promises to bring together all generations for a weekend full of Action Sports.
French, Argentina and UK fill the podium for BMX Freestyle Park
From the start of this Sunday, the level of some young riders in the U17 category and the top of the amateurs' ranking could have justified their participation in Pro, and each contest seems to illustrate a new stage in their progression.
The 2021 Eurobike bicycle trade show also had to deal with the corona virus. The show was smaller than usual but with two BMX shows doing several demos per day it sure gave us a good reason to drive down to the Lake of Konstanz in the very south of Germany. The flatland demos were done by the Deep BMX crew and included the 2019 UCI Flatland World Champion Dom Nekolny as well as Martin Drazil. On the Braun the sessions were heating up with a bunch of solid riders including Tom van den Bogaard, Evan Brandes, Tobias Freigang, Dean Florian, Sikharin Supanmart, Jan Mihaly, Timo Schulze and Paul Thölen.
With fitting music and a good MC, the people who took a break on checking out the 2022 bicycles got to see the latest in BMX tricks. The Braun Spine Mini proved its value and offered a challenging ramp for spine tricks and the extension was there for the daredevils to step it up. With two days of sunshine and perfect weather for good miniramp sessions the crowd was treated with flair whips (Schulze), triple barspin 540's (Sikharin), whip to footjam whip to footjam whip (Florian), double downside whips (Tom) and brakeless barspin tailtaps on the extension to fakie by Paul Thoelen. Shows like these where riders naturally get pushed to 'one-up' each other can explode pretty quickly. Doing improvised runs together on the spine mini at the same time did the job for the Eurobike public. Good stuff people, good stuff.
It literally gets no better! Monster Energy congratulates its team of BMX athletes on a podium-perfect performance on day one of X Games 2021. In a field of the world’s best freestyle BMX riders, the team claimed every single medal awarded across four BMX disciplines at the private Dream Yard facility in Riverside, California, on Wednesday: Four gold, two silver, and two bronze medals. In the highly competitive BMX Dirt competition, 27-year-old Monster Energy BMX team rider Pat Casey took the gold medal, a career-first X Games gold, on his home turf. The gold medal run continued in BMX Dirt Best Trick with 31-year-old Andy Buckworth from Lake Haven, Australia, claiming the top spot with a spectacular double backflip no-hander. In the BMX Park event on Dream Yard’s sprawling
Monster Energy congratulates Kevin Peraza and Larry Edgar on their first and third finishes, respectively, at the Street Style stop of the Toyota BMX Triple Challenge series in Arlington, Texas. Peraza’s well-rounded trick delivery and Edgar’s speed and power helped each of them clinch their victories on the multifaceted course. Walled-in on three sides by giant shipping containers, the Peraza-designed layout catered to all different styles of riding with a variety of unique ramp configurations including rails, ledges, multiple quarter pipe transfers, a box jump, and more. Riders in attendance complimented the course perfectly with a mix of street focused shredders like Broc Raiford and Reed Stark, to the more transition inclined, including Edgar and Pat Casey, least not forget upcoming star

To say we've been through the good and bad times with BMX is fair. Anyone who has put on 30 BMX events in a row can agree to that. What's the current state then? Although we've put in attempts to stop doing the FATJAMs at the Sugar Hills it simply is impossible to stop. The joy it brings to the younger riders and the good times had by park and street riders shredding on dirt twice a year have made us decide that the 31st edition of the FATJAM will happen on August 24th 2019. To score financial support from the local council we might name it a different way as events only get support in the first three years it is being organized. FATJAM 2.0 or MAJTAF 2019, or whatever we come up with, the next version will be off the hook and everyone is welcome at the Sugar Hills just like in the past 30 years. Support from sponsors and people willing to help out is appreciated so get in touch if you want to be part of the new style FATJAM Festival on 24 August to make it the best one ever.
For sure the 30th edition was a good one. The weather, man, we were lucky. Riding in a T-shirt and shorts was possible and Mark Vos would have ridden shirtless all day. The chilling on the field next to the trails was raised to an other level with people bringing their drinks, enjoying the BBQ by Fritskemaat and simply catching up while the music was pointed towards the trails for riders to enjoy. The cool thing about the Mini FATJAM is that riders between 5 and (uhh) 50 meet up on the starting hill and pick different lines to try out. Those courageous enough will attempt the Killer Jump. There was not a minute that the trails were not occupied and around 16:00hr Paul got on the microphone to give out the sponsor
