My 2017: Nick Bruce
Hometown: Hubbard, OHIO, USA.
Sponsors: Rockstar Energy Drink, Total BMX, Jack Link's Beef Jerky, Kali Protectives, Krusher BMX, & Alienation BMX
Do you remember the first BMX event you went to this year and how did it go?
Nick Bruce: The first BMX event of 2017 was the Monster BMX Triple Dirt jump contest in Anaheim, California. It was a lot of fun! However, I did end up crashing super hard trying a 360 Backflip Tailwhip in which I still haven't gotten redemption on lol...
Nick Bruce was the fan favourite to win this weekend's UCI Urban World Championships in Chengdu, China. Unfortunately, Nick Suffered a rear wheel blow-out in his first run and lost a significant amount of points as a result. After a spot of emergency repair work, Nick came out swinging for his 2nd run and he totally smashed it. Scoring over 95 points, the highest score of an single run. Despite his comeback in his 2nd run, the low score of 50 points from his first run, he landed in 18th position and didn't make it into tomorrows finals.
You wouldn't believe it after seeing this run, but Nick Bruce took his first FISE World Series win here. Chengdu left amazed.

On June 9-10, the world’s top athletes took over Rhodes Skate Park in Boise, Idaho to secure their invitations to X Games Minneapolis. Over 7,000 fans witnessed six Men’s Skateboard and BMX athletes and four Women’s skateboarders punch their tickets to Minneapolis. In the final competition of the day, the BMX athletes upped the amplitude in the park with a mix of flips and whips. X Games rookie Nick Bruce surprised the crowd by taking the top spot in front of perennial X Games BMX Park medalists Daniel Sandoval and Kevin Peraza. Bruce qualified first in the elimination and rode that momentum all the way through the final. Sitting in second place behind Sandoval, Bruce threw a run highlighted by a huge downside flairwhip in the final run of the competition to seal his spot
