For the first time in almost three decades, Mongoose is bringing back the most iconic wheelset in BMX history, the Motomag. On September 27, Mongoose will offer BMX enthusiasts and retro collectors the chance to pick up the third generation – Motomag III – of the brand’s most storied product. In the early 1970s, BMX was born when riders in Southern California began racing bikes on motocross tracks. As the sport rapidly evolved, bike technology was pushed to its limits, and frequently beyond them as riders regularly damaged or bent their bike wheels. In 1974, automotive wheel designer Skip Hess took matters into his own garage and produced the first cast magnesium BMX wheel, the Motomag. He then started producing alloy versions of the Motomag that became a mainstay in the sport with their combination of durability and lightweight performance. With the success of the Motomag, Hess started a new bicycle brand he called Mongoose.
Motomag wheels were standard equipment on BMX bikes in the mid-1970s and defined the aesthetics of early BMX racing. In 1978, Mongoose launched the Motomag II, which built on the popularity of the first

In time-honored tradition, Redline by Kastan partners with Peregrine to offer you an opportunity to win this legendary Redline RL 20 II Package along with a set of 3rd Generation Peregrine Master mags. This working relationship began in the mid-1980s. TEEL Industries and Peregrine brand founder, Taka Nieda, worked directly with our founder Linn Kastan, supporting Redline's effort to grow and expand into a market-leading, global BMX brand. Nieda's deep industry contacts created essential options for Redline, and with the founding of Peregrine, Kastan opted to specify the Master mag on his legendary RL 20 II Prostyler.

Starting out in the early 80’s Jess Dyrenforth became a staple name in the mid to late 80s BMX scene. From the first time anyone had seen him featured in BMX Action bike magazine's track in the woods article in '83.

This bike is a re-issue that is built to the same exact spec as the 1984 "loop Tail" version and in this video we build the bike up and show this beautiful BMX bike off but we also take it to the skatepark and Matty Cranmer goes full flashback mode and tries his best to recreate some 80's style tricks and air!
