Bicycle racing has existed, in one form or another, for quite a long time. However, the type of racing we are talking about when we talk about BMX can be traced back to the 1960s, in California. Hugely inspired by motocross racing, BMX bicycle races are sprints, often ridden on off-road race tracks. In the 21st century, BMX racing first became super popular, even becoming an Olympic Sport in 2008, sanctioned by the UCI.
