More info:
Leigh Ramsdell and Hal Brindley are together again and they're going to bring back some of the original tee shirt designs from 2B, PLAY, and Useless. We need you to help us decide which ones to make. (and help us get our ancient conveyor dryer fixed)
History
In 1989 Hal Brindley started 2B Homecooked Garments along with his friend Steve Buddendeck. Within a few years it was voted the number one clothing brand in BMX. Leigh Ramsdell was one of 2B's first team riders. He went on to become Hal's roommate and 2B employee. In 1995 Hal started PLAY Clothes and Leigh started Useless and again they became two of the top brands in BMX. In 1999 Hal sold PLAY (it went under 6 months later) and became a traveling wildlife photographer and Leigh went on to become a team manager and designer in the BMX industry.
Goal
Now, fifteen years later, Leigh decided to get back into screen printing and miraculously acquired the original 2B printing equipment after four different owners. At nearly 25 years old, it's in pretty bad shape and the conveyor dryer needs some serious repair. We want to bring it back to life and print some of the original 2B, PLAY and Useless designs on our original equipment. That's where you come in.
Here's How it Works
We need you to pledge to our project and vote for your favorite classic tees to help us decide which shirts to make.
1) Choose a reward level on the right and pledge.
2) Go to our website OdscoolBMX.com and look at the list of shirt designs.
3) Vote for your favorite design from 2B, PLAY or Useless
4) When the project is funded we tally the votes, fix the dryer, and print the top ten tees.
5) You get to choose which of the top ten tees you want and in what size (if you pledge $25 or more)
6) We ship your goodies to you!
Random Stuff
We've got some other fun rewards over there so check'em out. We'll be printing some sweatshirts and we're even bringing back the original embroidered 2B logo baseball hat and the embroidered Useless logo knit beanie. And our favorite one of all is the PLAY/Useless Commercial re-release. We're going to remake our original commercial that appeared in Props in 1996. (Watch it below) and we're going to update it in our own special way. But we need somebody to play Joey the UPS driver and that somebody could be you. A truly historic honor indeed. (Joey was a very special guy).
A few lucky people can also get the Collector's Package which will be a treasure chest of all ten limited edition tees, a sweatshirt, a 2B hat, a Useless beanie and a collection of original memorabilia scrounged from Hal Brindley's attic. It will include one of the few remaining PLAY posters which appeared in Ride Magazine 1998 featuring the PLAY team dressed as the Village People. To make it extra awesome we're going to get each of the original team riders to sign it. Plus you'll find original catalogs, stickers, artwork and random cool artifacts from BMX history. After this you can start your own BMX museum.
And of course, for ten grand, I will actually rename my cat Scamper after you and make a commercial about it, featuring you. (that's a bargain.)
Thanks for visiting our project. We can't wait to get started. Thanks for your support!
