September 4, 2006 - New York, N.Y - The Dew Action Sports Tour, the pro tour of action sports, makes the fourth stop of its second season with the Toyota Challenge, September 7-10, at San Jose’s HP Pavilion. The five-city tour opened in Louisville in June and also includes stops in Denver, Portland and Orlando. Local BMX athletes Ryan Nyquist and Chad Kagy are among the athletes who will be in San Jose to compete for the Dew Cup, awarded at season’s end to the athlete with the highest number of points in each of the six disciplines of skateboarding, BMX, and freestyle motocross. The Tour’s inaugural season BMX champions include Jamie Bestwick (BMX Vert) and Ryan Guettler (BMX Park and BMX Dirt). Each Dew Cup winner received a portion of the $1 million year-end bonus and is competing this season. The Toyota Challenge will feature 150 professional action sports athletes; all qualified for the remainder of the season at the first two stops on the Tour, the Panasonic Open and Right Guard Open. Due to the depth of this year’s athlete talent, the Tour increased the finals field in all disciplines, allowing 12 athletes instead of 10 to advance to the finals. The Tour also increased the size of  BMX Park and BMX Dirt courses so athletes can perform bigger and better tricks. 

S&M Bikes owner Chris Moeller is getting all the B-day attention this week. As far as we know (or the 23mag list tells us) he's the only BMX-er celebrating his B-day this Thursday. Chris might be over B-day parties but that's a good reason to surprise him.

South-Brazilian Dirt-Jump Championship Days: September 16 and 17 City: Ivaiporã - Pr Brazil It will be a championship with beginners, amateurs and pro riders. It will also have step-up and best-trick. For pro it will have R$2000 to divide.

Look out for the Padded Cell road trip from London to Aberdeen from the 16th - 24th September. The 2006 Deconstruction tour has started. On board this year are a bunch of BMX-ers who will be doing shows at selceted venues. On the bus are: Jay Eggelston, Mike Mancuso, Zach Shaw, Tim Eichert and Jann Valenta. They will join a bunch of skateboarders who can handle the rock 'n roll touring and the following bands: Pennywise, Bouncing Souls, Boysetsfire, Thursday and several other bands that play at selected arenas. To make sure the BMX-ers are there when you get there you should consult the deconstruction website or call them for all the info.

Gilbert, Arizona—August, 2006— The ABA (American Bicycle Association) will provide free live-streaming coverage of the twenty-second national event on its 2006 BMX (Bicycle Motocross ) racing series. The ABA has previously provided an audio feed of its national events for fans and racers to get real-time coverage of its national BMX races. Adding this streaming-video coverage is a first and unprecedented for the sport!

AUGUST 28, 2006- Hoffman Bikes USA is proud to announce the re-addition of legendary flatlander Kevin Jones to the Hoffman Bikes Pro team. Jones will be working with Hoffman Bikes to redesign his original Hoffman Bikes signature frame, The Big Daddy. Originally from York, PA, Jones is credited as the innovator of modern day flatland riding. His exploits have been well documented in the 'Dorkin' In York' video series, and his influence on flatland is worldwide.
