The US Book launch for the 2nd Edition of The Birth of the BMX Freestyle Movement is held in San Diego at the 10 Barrel Brewing pub location in east village on May 25th. This 350-page oral history book, with 109 contributors, and hundreds of previously unseen images, tracks the metoeric rise of BMX Freestyle in the late '70s and through the 1980s. The Tizer World Freestyle Championships was a four-part BMX Beat TV special hosted by Andy Ruffell with Ron Stebbene. The series featured some of the best BMX freestyle riders in the world at that time including the amazing Matt Hoffman and UK riders Craig Campbell, Dave Young, and Jason Hassell. The shows were the highest rated of all the BMX Beat shows and were broadcast on The UK's ITV national network.
