Is flatland dying? Is flat dead? I think you have to ask the question “what is flatland for yourself?” in the first place to know what is dead or not.
Flatland can be a lot of things. It can be the artform where riders push the sport by not making it more difficult by going higher or faster but doing more progressive and harder stuff. While streettricks most of the time evolve around doubles, triples and higher basics, the basics in flatland are not even done yet. There is no real structure in the trickculture which is good on the artistic side of flatland because there is so much freedom in flatland but on the other hand bad for the contestside because the comparision is getting harder and harder… well almost impossible.

We have not done a report on the vert competition at the X-Games yet. Not that we don't know what to write, but we noticed that Freecaster.tv has the whole deal on the internet. With the whole deal we mean highlights of the vert event as well as the whole competition with quality commentary from Jimmy Coleman and Steve Swope. The Olympic BMX race is coming up and the athletes are getting ready for it. They've trained hard to get where they are and on the way there they are meeting some interesting people. Donny Robinson met Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger with Team USA at Jose State University where athletes stopped off for Team Processing en route to Beijing for the Olympics that begin Friday, 8.8.08. Governor Schwarzenegger also made a stop at the U.S. Olympic Training Center in Chula Vista last week, where he met with athletes

Get ready for the second edition of "Hit The Target" on August 30! Like last year, this year event will take place in Soncino (Cr) Italy at the Bonelessclub Park, a fantastic home-made park with quarters, spine, a huge bank-to-wall, ledge, steps and rail. The park is located in a wide "green" area with top services, parking, bar, camping area & showers. "Hit The Target" is a best trick contest designed to give all riders the opportunity to compete at the highest level.

The event will be focused on 3 ramps. Each ramp will represent a class an a €500 EUR money price for the best trick. Prices are guarantied also for the 2nd and 3rd positions. At the end of the event three winner will share the total amount of a €1500 EUR money price! Registration fee is €10 EUR (includes insurance) and helmet is a must!

The National Bicycle League’s official BMX race publication, BMX Today Magazine, has released the August issue with a special Olympic preview inside. Excalibur’s Josh Meyers is the well-deserving cover-boy and there’s plenty of good stuff to read this month.
