jump that freaked me out haha
When you arrived at the track, what was your first opinion?
Brian: I thought the track was cool when I first seen it, I think I had built it up in my head to be bigger then it was and in reality it wasn't bigger then anything I had hit before just way more technical.
Do you think you got enough practice time to get used to the track?
Brian: Yeah we have heaps of practice for world cup races, physically I couldn't do to much more.
Did you manage to jump everything you wanted to jump during the first session?
Brian: Yeah I jumped everything first session, I just needed to get it dialed in the before time trial.
How much harder is it for you to go from one at a time, to a full race of 8 people on the gate and then ride the track?
Brian: I am used to it now, I think that is more of an experience thing. I try my hardest to be out front away from all the traffic.
The wind definitely didn’t help with the difficulty of the track. Would it have been a different race without the wind?
Brian: Yeah the track would have been great without the wind, that's what was freaking me out the most.
What’s your opinion on the box jump? What needs to be fixed with that thing for the 2012 Olympic track?
Brian: The box jump was the easiest jump on the track, it didn't feel good jumping up and stopping so it just needs to be bowled out so you can jump in and out.
How often did you crash?:
Brian: I didn't. That was my number 1 goal for the weekend.
Did you wear extra safety gear at this Supercross World Cup?:
Brian: Yeah pads everywhere. Guys where getting ripped apart out there.
39 casualties in Papendal. Do you think riders need to be selected instead of the fact that just any elite rider can buy a license and sign up for the World Cup?
Brian: Yeah I don´t think anybody should be able to ride a World Cup, but it doesn't matter in the end because they only take 64 to the race.
Do you think this Papendal track would be a lot easier to ride in two years from now?
Brian: Yeah it was just at another level to what I am used to and it put me out of my comfort zone. Now I know what to expect. Hopefully it won't be as windy!
Ok, imagine you’re the track designer for the London Olympic track and you can make 3 changes to the track. What would they be?
1. Open up the hip sections they where too tight
2. Make the box a jump in and out
3. Better asphalt on the turns
Thanks a lot. Any thanks to the sponsors or any people in particular?
Brian: Australian HPP team, Intense/THE/Sinz, LKI, All my friends and family, Coach Bootes and everybody I train and ride with, cheers.
