The UCI and Global SX Events Inc. announced yesterday that the 4th leg of the 2011 UCI BMX Supercross World Cup, scheduled for 16-17 September 2011 in Sarasota Florida (USA), has unfortunately been cancelled and will not be replaced. The local organizer, Sarasota County has decided to withdraw from the organization of this event. “Sarasota was indeed a great location for a BMX Supercross World Cup, and up until this point we were impressed with their plans for BMX” says Johan Lindstrom, CEO of Global SX Events Inc. “The disappointment is obviously that we are convinced that this could have been resolved if Sarasota County had been more diligent in addressing pending issues.” UCI President Pat McQuaid expressed his disappointment at the cancellation today which he termed as a “real blow for the whole BMX family.”
