USA Cycling published today the funded riders who will represent the United States in round #3 of the UCI BMX Supercross World Cup which will take place in London, England, Aug 19-20 as part of the official Olympic test event. The top three riders in the UCI Supercross World Cup standings earned automatic nomination to the team with an additional three men and women awarded discretionary nominations.
The second-ranked rider in the Supercross (SX) standings and winner of the opening round in South Africa earlier this year, Corben Sharrah (Tucson, Ariz./GT Bicycles) will lead the elite men's team into London. Veteran Arielle Martin (Pleasant Grove, Utah/Spanaway, Wash./Intense BMX) will headline the women's squad as the top ranked American female in the SX standings.
The London event will also be the first race to count toward the 2012 USA Cycling Power Rankings which factors into Olympic selection for both men and women.
