After I went back to the hospital for check up I decided to pack my bags for bootcamp USA with the Dutch Team, but I still can’t use my wrist… November 28th I had my appointment at the hospital. This was 1 month after surgery, so my doctor wanted to check if the wrist was still in the right position. Fortunately the broken bones didn’t move after they put in a metal plate and 10 screws, so that was a good sign. I was also hoping to see any bone growing, but that wasn’t the case. No bone growing at all, but the doctor told me it was a little to soon to see anything at the X-rays.
I can start to try moving my wrist a little but I’m not allowed to use it. Because the doctor was so positive, I decided to pack my bags for a training camp in the USA with the rest of the Dutch Team. Right now I’m in California for over a week already. I actually can do a lot of training, I just can’t use my

left arm. We made some changes to my gym program and I pimped up my mountainbike with an aerobar… check the photos.
It’s not perfect way to start the Olympic season, but in my case it’s positive to be able to train like this, because I can try to stay as fit as possible and when my doctor say it’s okay to use my wrist again, I didn’t lose all my strength and I’m in a pretty good shape to get back on the BMX track soon. First I have to make sure my wrist is healthy again, but that’s going to be tough for sure… It’s still sore and thick, check out the photos above.
When we arrived at the hotel the new Redline carbon frames we’re already waiting for us. I also build up my own parts and it’s looking sweet. Unfortunately I’m not able to ride it soon. I will stay in California for 2 more weeks, SO LUCKY!
