"It's encouraging to have a company like J&R Bicycles come on board with the USA Cycling Junior Development Program," JDP camp manager Brian Fell said. "It shows that we are being taken seriously by the entire industry, not just by traditional type sponsors that are trying to promote their brands."
The JDP camps, which are held at the Olympic Training Center in Chula Vista, Calif., provide opportunities for the top 15-and-16-year-old racers born in 1996 and 1997 to receive high performance training opportunities on the Supercross World Cup BMX track.
"We feel that it is good to give back to the sport," Kirk Morrison, the owner of J&R Bicycles, said. "We like to be involved in all levels of BMX racing. From the local events to state level to national and international. It is also fun to be a part of the next step for these aspiring supercross riders!"
USA Cycling holds six JDP camps this season. The remaining four camps of the 2011-12 BMX season are scheduled for April 2-7, June 18-23, Aug. 13-18 and Oct. 15-20.
Riders qualify to attend the camps with results during one of four qualification periods in USA Cycling's BMX Junior Development Series. To learn more about the series, camps or how to qualify, please visit USA Cycling's BMX Junior Development Program web page.
