More than 5.000 people enjoy Spain’s first World Cup in this discipline. Australian Khalen Young claims victory against the world’s best riders in a very tough final. Extreme sport is getting more and more important in Spain, and a big example is that 5.000 people have enjoyed the UCI BMX Supercross World Cup in Madrid. Although BMX is not a very known sport (yet), the Juan Carlos I Auditorium was crowded with fans cheering every jump.

Action started in the morning with the warm ups and the time trial qualifying rounds. The riders made their toughest efforts in every jump and curve. Some falls, quitting bikers and broken bicycles made the morning even more exciting

But the big competition came in the evening, when the riders had to face each other. The crowd has seen fast races, with fights in each jump, turn and curve. The bikers have shown their guts, and round after round, one of the favourites had to leave the competition with a terrible defeat. At the end, Australian
Khalen Young has claimed victory in a very tough final, with some top rider such as
Mike Day (U.S. – Third at the X-Games),
Robert De Wilde (The Netherlands - 2 Times World Champion) and
Donny Robinson (U.S. - Former World cup Champion).

Although local stars
Pablo Galán and
Rafa Álvarez did not qualify to the quarterfinals, both of them showed their happiness, not only for riding at home, but for making it to the 1/8 round in one of their first experiences in BMX Supercross.
