USA BMX, the world's largest bicycle motocross organization, has launched a new after school enrichment program based on a Science Technology Engineering and Math (STEM) curriculum. The program had a soft roll-out in April and is now integrated into over 20 school districts across the United States. This effort is believed to be the first and only STEM program produced and endorsed by a national governing body in the United States.
The utilization of STEM curriculum in America's schools is endorsed by the White House and the United States Department of Education and is part of President
Obama's education challenge. The USA BMX program is equal part education, equal part athletics and exercise. Each student receives not only the STEM education, but also a helmet, a Redline BMX bike, and a free membership to USA BMX. The curriculum is currently being used by public and private schools, bike clubs, summer camps, and in after school enrichment programs.
