What a way to start the 2014 season with national series wins, A World Cup win & this past weekend having a clean sweep taking out the Australian National series, winning the continental Oceania Championships & winning the Australian Nationals Championships. I am very glad that last year I became a professional airplane sleeper and world traveler doing 3 cycling events all around the globe. This year we are back to back with racing in Manchester, Australia, Holland, Denmark, Switzerland, Italy, Berlin, Australia, Holland, USA, Canada, USA, Argentina, USA, Curacao & back to Australia. Its full steam ahead
into the racing season and I am feeling on track and in great shape with a solid successful training block at home at the Australian Institute Of Sport.
BMX Australia every year have been upping the level of professionalism of the National Championship weekend. With every year becoming bigger and better. This year BMX Australia out did themselves again putting on a flawless event with 3,000 entries, huge crowds, loads of main stream media including live crosses with Sunrise the Morning show on Channel 9 and even a fire works show moments before the finals on thursday night. The weather was up and down over the week but then never ruined the show.
On Thursday night I won the Oceania Continental Championships which because it doubled as the last round of our National Series also secured me the overall title of winning the Australian National Series. Backing up my win on Thursday I lead every lap over the weekend and walked away with the Australian National Championship title. An elusive title that I have wanted for the past 3 years.
My girls team BUCHANAN Next Gen also had a fantastic weekend with
Paige Harding placing 5th in the final of the 11yr girls.
Mikayla Rose winning the overall Australian National Series for the 14 girls as well as getting up on the podium in 3rd position in the Australian National Championships.
Next stop Papendal Holland for the second round of the UCI BMX Supercross World Cup this weekend.
