The fourth leg of the UCI BMX Supercross World Cup series got underway in Santiago del Estero in Argentina this morning, with some of the best riders in the world on display. Qualifying races for tomorrows main field provided plenty of early thrills and spills, before the day culminated with the feature event of the day’s program, the elite Time Trial, which offered a vocal crowd with some breathtaking riding.
Australian
Caroline Buchanan, runner up in the time trial at the

World Championships in June, was again at her very best finishing a close second to Columbian
Marian Pajon, to set up a mouth watering day of racing tomorrow as she looks to secure her second Supercross World Cup series victory.
Having already won two of the three world cup events so far this year in Manchester and Berlin,
Buchanan currently leads the series standings, and has a great opportunity tomorrow to set an unassailable lead going into the last event in Chula Vista, USA at the end of September.

Australian’s
Melinda McLeod, Lauren Reynolds and
Kirsten Dellar will join
Buchanan tomorrow, having safely navigated their way through the challenging qualification rounds.
In the elite men Australian
Anthony Dean didn’t have his best performance in the Time Trial finishing 16th behind winner and overall series leader
Liam Phillips of Great Britain.

A third placed Dean will need to be at his best tomorrow if he is to make up the fifty-point difference to Phillips and will be joined on the start ramp by fellow Aussie and 2014 National Series champion
Bodi Turner.
It promises to be an action packed day of racing from Santiago del Estero tomorrow morning, with racing scheduled to get underway at 4.30am AEST.
